Monthly Billing
Billing for natural gas and other services is done on a monthly basis. Meters are read on or about the 16th of each month. Bills are mailed on the last working day of the month. Payment is due by the 15th of the following month. Accounts not paid by the 15th are subject to a penalty charge. Past Due reminders are mailed on or about the 16th of the month, informing the customer of the cutoff date. Accounts not paid by the cutoff date are subject to disconnection.
Prorate Billing
Any customer who has had gas service with Soutwest Texas Municipal Gas for at least 12 months at the same address is eligible for prorate billing.
Prorate billing provides a constant billing amount, and avoids high gas bills in the winter months. Some customers find this a convenient way to budget their natural gas expense. The prorated amount is based on the average usaging during the last 12 month period. Customers meeting the 12 month requirement can convert to prorated billing in March, April, May or June. The prorate amount for all prorate customers is re-calculated in March of each year, taking into account the usage for the last 12 month period as well as any changes in the current gas billing rate
Automatic Bank Draft Billing
Your monthly gas bill (either regular monthly billing or prorate billing) can be automatically drafted from your bank account. A printed bill is sent to customers with Automatic Bank Draft Billing to allow the customer to see the amount that will be drafted from his/her account. Bank drafts are done on or about the 7th of each month. Any checking or savings account on the Federal Reserve system can be drafted.
